For Authors

Convergence Journal welcomes English-language submissions on a rolling basis from young people under the age of 18. Submissions from any area of study are welcome, with particular interest in interdisciplinary work straddling both STEM and humanities topics, in fields such as Engineering, Medicine, Computer Science, Law, Politics, Humanities, Philosophy, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, and Mathematics. Manuscripts should be between 3,000-10,000 words and formatted according to APA Style (7th edition), with some slight modifications.

All submissions must use the Convergence Journal Paper Template.
For additional details about Convergence Journal style, please consult our style guide.

OUR PROCESS

We utilize a robust academic evaluation framework.

As a double-blind peer-reviewed journal, Convergence has a robust framework for its academic publication and review process, which all submissions must go through. This process is detailed below; only around 15% of submitted papers will be accepted for publication. There is no way to guarantee publication, or to increase your odds of success, beyond creating the most rigorous submission possible in accordance with our publishing guidelines.

  • Upon submission of a manuscript, our editorial board will make an initial decision within two weeks (or one week for fast-track submissions) as to whether it should be sent for peer review.
  • All submissions chosen for review will be anonymized by the editorial team, before being sent to two reviewers in the relevant field.
  • Reviews are returned to the editorial team with their recommendation regarding publication, as well as substantive feedback, within two weeks (or one week for fast-track). The editorial team will then decide whether to return the manuscript to its author for revision, or to reject the submission.
  • Authors who are selected to move forward with revisions will have at most one month to implement the recommendations made by the reviewers.
  • Upon receiving the revised manuscript, the editorial team will recommend once more whether to move forward with the publication process, suggest resubmission, or reject the manuscript. This process again takes two weeks (or one week for fast-track).
  • Accepted manuscripts will be copy edited and then reviewed as a complete issue by the editorial board prior to the publication of the journal.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

We uphold the highest submission standards.

  • Submit original, author-led manuscripts with a clear thesis, logical arguments, and meaningful insights; papers that only summarize existing literature are unlikely to be accepted.
  • Authors should generally be under 18 at the time of submission (with limited exceptions; please contact us at convergencejournal@indigoresearch.org for more details); if an adult mentor contributed, include a mentor contribution statement describing their advisory role.
  • Use the Convergence paper template and APA style (7th edition): author-date in-text citations, a complete reference list, and accurate source attribution throughout. For more information on APA 7th edition formatting, please visit this link.
  • Keep manuscripts within approximately 3,000–10,000 words (field-dependent flexibility may apply) and include an abstract of no more than 300 words.
  • Structure the paper with clearly labeled sections, typically including Introduction, Methods/Procedure, Analysis/Discussion, and Conclusion.
  • Manuscripts must be anonymized for double-blind review: remove author name(s), school name(s), mentor name(s), and other personally identifying information from the submission file.
  • For studies involving human participants, obtain formal ethics approval (IRB/REB or equivalent) where possible; at minimum, provide clear consent, risk, confidentiality, and data-management information. Note that formal ethics approval is mandatory for research involving sensitive topics, vulnerable populations, or minors—an ethics statement alone cannot substitute for it in these cases, and such submissions may still be rejected even if other standards are met.
  • If AI/LLM tools are used, limit usage to minor editing support and fully disclose that use at submission; authors remain fully responsible for originality and accuracy.
  • Provide appendices for experimental data where relevant, and ensure figures/equations are submission-ready—e.g., at least 300 dpi in resolution when full-size and displayed in the paper, and equations entered as editable math (not screenshots) whenever possible.
  • Submission implies agreement to timely revisions and publication standards; manuscripts may be withdrawn before acceptance, but accepted papers must proceed through final edits/publication steps.

FEE STRUCTURE

We follow a need-blind policy.

Convergence Journal charges a fee in two stages. The fees cover administrative costs (e.g., reviewing submissions, formatting and proofreading manuscripts, and website maintenance) and help keep the journal open and accessible to all:

  • Pre-review submission fee: None—for now! However, students may choose an optional, nonrefundable USD 200 fast-track submission fee to shorten the initial review and final decision timelines from two weeks to one week each, respectively, while maintaining the same editorial standards. Here is a link to the fast-track fee payment page; if paid, please take a screenshot of the payment confirmation page and send it to convergencejournal@indigoresearch.org after submitting your paper.
  • Post-review publication fee: USD 400 to be paid after an editorial decision is recorded and emailed to the authors.

Publication is need-blind—i.e., the ability to pay does not factor into a student's acceptance decision and we try to meet 100% of demonstrated financial need. Please email convergencejournal@indigoresearch.org to determine the amount of need-based aid you qualify for!
